| Lost or Stolen Credit Card |  If a student has a credit card then the chances are that sometime in his or heer life he or she may lose his or her credit card or have it stolen. This can turn out to be a great problem so there are ways to arrange the problem quickly and easily without losing student’s ability to spend or lose money.
Here are some tips about what to do when a credit card is lost or stolen, and how to prevent it happening:
- Cancel. If a student knows his or her credit card has been lost or stolen, he or she should cancel the card at the first obtainable opportunity. The quicker he or she cancels the card then the less chance someone else has to use it and the quicker he or she can be sent another card. A student should always keep his or her credit card company numbers in in order to inform the company in case of this.
- Review statements. A student should frequently review his or her statements to check for irregularities, no matter is a credit card stolen or not. If someone got a card number or made a copy of the card then he or she can buy things on a student’s card even if he or she still has it. If a student sees anything suspicious then he or she should contact the card issuer immediately.
- Be careful with paperwork. Any paperwork relating to students cards should be kept in a secure place. If a student is throwing out old statements, he or she should make sure that he or she disposes of them appropriately. The best way to dispose of bank information is to shred the items carefully so other people cannot use them to get the account information.
